On February 3, 2016 the Florida African American Heritage Preservation Network and Representative Jimmie Smith, Chairman of the House Veteran & Affairs Subcommittee, honored WWII veteran J. J. Corbett, one of the last surviving members of the famous “Triple Nickel” smoke jumpers who served America and helped change the history of racial desegregation in the military along the way.
