The Mary S. Harrell Black Heritage Museum is exploring new ways of attracting young people to the museum. We recognize that women face unique barriers to professional success, so we chose to reach out and celebrate the accomplishments of eight, young professional African American women who have made an outstanding impact in New Smyrna Beach and surrounding areas. The “Women on the Move” exhibit offers visitors an opportunity to learn and appreciate the contributions of these women. The museum’s mission is to increase the awareness and appreciation for African American culture and history through educational activities emphasizing the contributions of its people.
