Florida African American Museum Exchange (FAAME) Project

INSTITUTE OF MUSEUM AND LIBRARY SERVICES FUNDS “CONNECTING TO COLLECTIONS” PROJECT NETWORK COLLECTIONS

The John G. Riley Center/Museum received the top awarded grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS 2008-2010) and the Florida State Legislature to begin the FAAME Project. Seven museums of the Florida African American Heritage Preservation Network (FAAHPN) were selected to receive archival training and begin an initial data-base of individual collections as a step toward cataloging, managing, caring for and making accessible important historical materials and artifacts. The project provided on-site field training to assist the museums in producing a collection inventory, catalog and archival storage and electronic system.
