A Gullah Geechee Experience: The Spirits of Day Clean

Come witness the spirit of Gullah Geechee people in the presentation of Amir Jamal Toure, a native of Savannah and Hilton Head Island. His families have been a part of the low country of Georgia and South Carolina since 1814 and establishing family compounds since the late 1800’s. He is a graduate of Savannah State University with dual degrees and the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University.
Amir Jamal Toure is called the People’s Historian. He is the resident scholar for Geechee Kunda Cultural Center and Museum in Riceboro, GA and is known as a Djeli (cultural historian) who shares the history of African people at home and in the diaspora, in particular.
Amir Jamal Toure Gullah Geechee historical presentations are remarkable as well as educational and full of the spirit of Gullah Geechee traditions.
